We Get Letters
I often get comments, especially from those who watch Fox News, that you can't fire teachers (or government workers for that matter). Well, from my time on the School Board, I can tell you that teachers get fired every year - not many - but some. A Personnel matter is something you cannot talk about in public - maybe that is why the myth persists you can't fire someone. The irony is, the myth persists within the teaching ranks that they will be fired for speaking out - something I have not seen. Maybe that is why we (the Board) get letters from staff that is unsigned. Unfortunately, an unsigned letter is not worth the paper it is written on and gets filed under T. If you have sent a letter such as this, or are thinking about it, call a School Board member instead.
