- Oakdale teacher Sharon Huffman has received a $580 grant from the S.C. Council on Teaching the Holocaust. The grant will be used to take all fifth-graders to a live performance of a play, the themes of which will teach students compassion and overcoming adverse situations.
- Oakdale's Julie Marshall was one of two teachers from S.C. who was given an all-expense paid trip by the S.C. Jump$tart Coalition to attend the Jump$tart National Conference Nov 5-7 in Washington, D.C. As the nation's leading advocate for youth financial literacy, the Jump$tart Coalition hosts the only national education conference devoted entirely to personal finance education in the classroom.
- The S.C. Region 1 Orchestra will perform in concert at 2:00 p.m. Sat., Nov. 13, in Byrnes Auditorium at Winthrop. Admission will be free.
- Northwestern's Girls' Basketball Team will host its third annual preseason tournament on Nov. 22 and 23 and will use the proceeds to benefit area charities. As a prelude to the tournament, the team will hold a yard sale on Nov. 20 from 8:00 until 1:00 . - The Rock Hill High Wrestling Club will provide "folkstyle wrestling" classes to children in kindergarten through grade 6 beginning Nov. 16. Click here for information.
