We Are Going To Protect The Classroom!

You'll probably hear this a lot over the next few months as school boards across the state deal with lower revenue than in previous years. Yet, what does it mean?

What doesn't affect the classroom? Lower the heat in winter? Raise the temperature in hot weather? Less money for classroom supplies? Fewer teachers? Less maintenance and/or housekeeping? All have impact.

So, how do you decide? Follow along in the process as the Rock Hill School Superintendent tells the school board and community on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 - 5:30 pm, Rawlinson Road Middle School Auditorium. Maybe you will find an opportunity to participate as well.

I just read the article in today's Herald and I really wonder why the "painful" cuts don't start at the District Office instead of with the maintenance or the classroom assistant teachers. Cut salaries in the D.O. first, and then work with the remaining deficits.

We are wondering the same thing. It would also be interesting to see facts about how many DO, non-classroom teachers there are in Rock Hill compared to other districts.
