Northwestern's Blake Gets State Honor

ROCK HILL - The South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association (SCAAA) announces that James A. Blake, principal of Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, has been selected for the second time as the Class AAAA Principal of the Year. 
He also received this award in 2005.  The award will be presented on Sunday, March 13 at the SCAAA 18th Annual Spring Conference for Athletics.  This conference includes high school athletic directors, principals, the SC High School League, SC Athletic Coaches Association and SC Association of School Administrators.  These groups come together for professional development courses, information, discussions of current issues facing high school athletics and conducting business for the upcoming school year. 
Mr. Blake is a graduate of Francis Marion University and earned a Masters in Education from Winthrop University.  He came to Northwestern in 1984 as a teacher and coach, where he coached football, wrestling and track.  In 1997 he became an assistant principal and was named head principal in 2003.
While leading Northwestern High School, Mr. Blake has served on numerous committees statewide, including the Palmetto’s Finest Committee.  He has been President of Class 4A and been the 4A representative on the South Carolina High School League Executive Committee.  Mr. Blake has been a true supporter of high school and student-athletes in the state.
He is married to Gail Blake and has two children, Trey and Tyler, both graduates of Northwestern High School.
