Resource Center Physician Invited to Mom's Congress
Congratulations to Dr. Martha Edwards on her selection by Parenting magazine to represent South Carolina at the Mom's Congress on Education and Learning at Georgetown University In Washington, D.C., this summer. Dr. Edwards has volunteered at the free medical clinic at the Family Resource Center for the past nine years. She and an outstanding mom from each state will meet with the country's most prominent education and advocacy leaders to discuss the importance of family engagement in achieving education goals across the country. Dr. Edwards will also be presenting at the March 30 #1 Question Meeting in Rock Hill.
Principal Receives Doctorate
Congratulations to Jean Dickson, principal of Rawlinson Road Middle School. who is now Dr. Dickson after completing her work in educational leadership at Gardner-Webb University.
Review of Board Policies
As members of the school board review current policies for possible revision or consider new policies, they are interested in getting feedback from district employees and local citizens. Following the first of two readings, new or revised policies will be placed on the district's website for input. Two policies, one on Social Media Communications and one on Taxing and Borrowing, are now available for review.
"School Talk" on District Portal
Supt. Lynn Moody's monthly TV show, "School Talk," is now on Cable 114. The current 30-minute show, taped by students in Martha Menchinger's visual communications class at the Applied Technology Center, is about literacy and how parents can help their children improve their reading skills.
