These are my notes from the June 11, 2012 Rock Hill School Board Work Session.
- There were no action items.
- The administration presented their proposed changes to Policy BE. This will be presented for first reading during the June Business Meeting.
- The administration presented proposed changes to Policy JICJ. This will be presented for first reading during the June Business meeting.
- The administration presented a balanced budget which included; a 2% cost of living increase for all employees; a step increase for teachers; additional teaching and staff positions; not tax increase and; no money from the reserve fund. They did recommend the board take up to $1.2 million from the reserve fund to give teachers an additional step increase which will bring them back to the level they were before budget cuts. This will be an action item for the June Business Meeting.
- The administration presented a capital/technology funding plan which would allow for a $6 million dollar bond without an increase in tax milage. This will be an action item at the June meeting.
- The administration recommended not raising lunch prices next year and to take money from the budget/reserve fund to cover the amount needed to comply with federal regulations. This will be added to the consent agenda in June.
- The administration recommended allowing the use of district activity buses by the Salvation Army this summer. This will be added to the consent agenda in June.
- The administration will present a TAN resolution for action during the June Business meeting.
