Rock Hill School Board Work Session on Monday, May 12

The Rock Hill School Board will hold it's May Work Session at Saluda Trail
Middle School this Monday, May 12, beginning at 5:30 pm. The proposed
agenda is as follows:

Executive Session for a Personnel Matter - Lynn Moody - 5 minutes
Presentation by Saluda Trail Middle School - Brenda Campbell - 30 minutes
Student Engagement Conference Update (June 24 & 25) - Chris Smith - 15
minutes
2008-09 Operating Budget Issues - Lynn Moody, Bill Mabry & staff - 120
minutes
Executive Session for Personnel Appeal and Hardship Transfer Request Appeal

Proposed 2008-09 Operating Budget is currently around $5.5 million short of
revenue without raising taxes ($3.5 million of increase is in operating
expenses and $2 million is amount short of bringing fund balance up to
minimum required to comply with Board Policy implemented in March of this
year - minimum of 2 month operating expense). The maximum which can be
raised from a 6 mill tax increase is $1.3 million - which leaves a $4.2
million shortfall. Large part of meeting will be on what items to cut or how
far to take fund balance below 2 month minimum.
