Rock Hill Schools News For Friday, May 8, 2009

Williams & Fudge, Inc., and Family Trust Federal Credit Union will host a vendors' fair on Saturday, May 16, for local agencies, churches, and individuals who provide summer camps and after-school care. The fair will be held in the parking lot(s) at the Cotton Factory at the intersection of White Street and Dave Lyle Blvd. in downtown Rock Hill from 9:00-noon. Vendors will provide information on their camps and programs to all interested parents whose children attend Rock Hill Schools.

Admission: A donation would be appreciated.

Castle Heights Middle School will have a yard sale on May 9, rain or shine, from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Proceeds will help defray the cost of an upcoming field trip.

The folks at Rawlinson Road Middle School have published a new Raiders in the Kitchen cookbook and it's for sale for $10.

Coach Adrianne Neale and the South Pointe High School cheerleaders will host a Little Girls Camp from 9:00-11:00 during the mornings of July 27-30 for girls ages 4 and up for $50. For more information or to register, contact Coach Neale.

Three employees—Frank Jordan at Saluda Trail Middle School, Debbie Jordan at Old Pointe Elementary School (Frank's wife), and Tonya Belton in the district office—can now be as addressed as Dr. Jordan and Dr. Belton.

Congratulations to Director Marsha Gross and Northwestern High School string students who brought back 31 gold medals from the S.C. Solo & Ensemble Festival.

The Rock Hill High School Band Booster Club will sponsor the 6th Annual Band of Distinction Golf Tournament at Waterford Golf Club on June 9 at 1:30.

Adviser Cindy Koon is proud of South Pointe High School's student newspaper (SPIN) which earned the top ranking of All-State at the S.C. Scholastic Press Assn.'s annual awards ceremony on April 27. Cindy says that special thanks go to assistant adviser Brian O'Shea for his role in coaching the students in writing, layout, reporting, and editorial decisions.
