Rock Hill School News For Thursday, May 6, 2010

To say "Thank You" to supporters of the Carroll School and the Brattonsville Academy, teachers Melanie Hornsby and Cyndie Smith will host a  drop-in reception at the Carroll School for grade 3 and 5
teachers and elementary principals, assistant principals, program teachers, music and art  teachers, cafeteria and Operations personnel.  Due to budget cuts, these award winning programs will be changed significantly next year.

Congratulations to:
  • Dutchman Creek Middle School Principal Norris Williams who's been selected by the South Carolina Parent Teacher Association as the Principal of the Year.                            
  • Director Lisa Kania and the Sullivan Middle School Women's Ensemble which received a superior rating at the State Choral Festival.  
  • Rosewood Elementary School which raised $4,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.   
  • Adviser Cindy Koon and the staff of South Pointe High School's In The News which earned an All-State rating by the South Carolina Scholastic Press Assn. and was picked as the Palmetto Award winner as the top student newspaper in its class.
  • Sullivan Middle School which recently received a $1,000 grant through Duke Energy.
Spring Concerts:
  • Rock Hill High Choral Department, 7:30 pm May 6 and May 7 at the School auditorium / $5
  • Northwestern Bands, 7:30 pm May 11 at the School auditorium / Free
  • Northwestern Jazz Extravaganza, 7:30 pm May 13, Band Room / Donations accepted
  • Elementary Honors Choir, 3:00 pm May 1, Oakland Baptist Church Sanctuary / Free                                            
Noteworthy :
  • The Northwestern High School Cheerleaders will have a pine needle sale on May 15. Bales are $4.50 and are to be picked up in the F-Gym parking lot. Orders of 20+ bales will be delivered. Everything must be pre-ordered. Get a form for ordering by clicking here.
  • The Class of 2010 from all three high schools will enjoy "Senior Day" from 10:00-2:00 on May 21 at  Winthrop Lake.  
  • Cindy Elder, volleyball coach at Rock Hill High School, will offer a camp for girls ages 10-14 during the mornings of June 14-17 for $100.  Click here to get a form for registering.
  • Northwestern High School's Athletic Dept. will offer a variety of camps this summer for children of all ages. For details, click here for the  "sportscamp" brochure.
